The Orioles have temporarily shut 20-year-old right-hander Dylan Bundy down with tightness in his right elbow.

"Dylan Bundy has mild tightness in [his] right elbow which he is resting until it's resolved which we expect will be in a couple [of] days at which point he will resume throwing," Dan Duquette, the Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations said in a text message.

Bundy, who was optioned to Double-A Bowie on March 16, was throwing a bit slower this season than he was in 2012.

The Orioles have been very careful with Bundy, limiting his innings to 103 2/3 last year. He pitched at Delmarva, Frederick and Bowie. He also had two brief appearances with the Orioles last September.

Bowie opens its season on Thursday at Harrisburg.
