Francisco Rodriguez pitched for the Orioles for the first time on Thursday night. Rodriguez allowed a home run to Kansas City’s Billy Butler. It was his second night in an Orioles uniform after he was traded from Milwaukee on Tuesday night.

“I know I was going to get traded. The Orioles were a surprise. There were a lot of teams I was linked with. Baltimore wasn’t one of them” Rodriguez said.

“When I realized they were in the playoff hunt I got excited. I got a chance to be in the postseason” Rodriguez said.
“That’s what you play for to play in October.”

Rodriguez will be used most often as a set-up man for Jim Johnson.

“I’m not here to take nobody’s job. I’m here to take some pressure off them” Rodriguez said.
