With one Rockets player to sit out the NBA Development League playoffs, another was assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday.

Rockets rookie Royce White will not play in the D-League post-season, an individual with knowledge of the decision said Tuesday. He would not elaborate about why White will be unavailable. White had previously said via Twitter that he would finish the Vipers’ regular season, but not play in the postseason. Days later, Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said that had not been decided, but would be evaluated after the Vipers’ regular season. Morey would not comment about the decision on Tuesday.

With White out, Rockets center was assigned to the Vipers. The Rockets had signed Ohlbrecht off the Vipers’ roster on Feb. 25. He has played in three games with the Rockets, each to finish routs. He averaged 13.4 point and 7.4 rebounds with the Vipers, who open the D-League Playoffs on Thursday against the Maine Red Claws.
