Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha officially signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Wednesday at the team's Santa Clara offices.

"We are very pleased to add Nnamdi to our defense," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. "Throughout his career, Nnamdi has accomplished a great deal on the field and in the community. We look forward to his contributions to our team and the Bay Area."

Asomugha was scheduled to take part in a 4:15 p.m. (PT) conference call with Bay Area reporters.

UPDATE: He was still meeting with 49ers coaches as of 4:30, so his call was pushed back until (at least) 4:45 p.m.

This will be updated throughout the call with his comments.
