A strong spring training ended in disappointment for Rockies prospect Nolan Arenado as he was sent down to the minor leagues Thursday morning. Chris Nelson will open the season as the Rockies' starting third baseman, holding off Arenado's roster push with a late offensive charge.

"It's disappointing. It was always my goal to be on the team," said Arenado, who hit four home runs and had 12 RBIs this spring. "But, I've learned a lot from this experience, mainly to control the controllables.
