There was no disciplinary action by the NHL taken against Flyers forward Harry Zolnierczyk.
He received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a kneeing penalty on Washington’s Mathieu Perreault near the very end of Wednesday’s 4-1 Flyer victory.
“It was a clean hit,” Zolnierczyk said. “I was just holding center ice there and cut both ways there on the outside and then cut back through the middle of the ice. I put my shoulder into his chest. It was a clean hit.”
He said he didn’t ask the official why he was given a major for kneeing.
“I didn’t move my legs,” Zolnierczyk said. “I had no intention of trying to catch him. I had him lined up from the start.”
