The NHL's Competition Committee has recommended the mandatory wearing of visors be grandfathered in at its meeting in Toronto on Tuesday.

The use of shallower nets to be used next season as well as a hybrid icing rule to be tested in preseason were among other recommended rule changes proposed on Tuesday.

The Committee also proposed additional video review for high-sticking double minors.

The reasoning behind the proposal of shallower nets appears to be aimed at giving players more room to maneuver behind the goal.
