It wasn't too surprising that Nene declared himself out for the final two games of the season after the Wizards' practice on Sunday morning.

Coach Randy Wittman, however, just wasn't aware that he wouldn't have his starting power forward for Monday's game at the Brooklyn Nets and Wednesday's at the Chicago Bulls.

"That's news to me," Wittman said when asked for his thoughts on Nene.

Also, forwards Martell Webster (abdominal strain) and Trevor Ariza (sore left knee) are being shut down.

"They're sore. The situation, it makes sense (for them) to not do anything," Wittman said.

CSN Washington first reported Saturday that Nene, who recently had been bothered by a sore right knee, was "suffering" from a left foot injury again and his prospects for finishing the season weren't likely. He missed the first nine games of the season with foot injury. Nene also has had issues with both shoulders.
