Today's intrasquad game – which is slated to begin around 11 a.m. -- will be closed to the public now that it has been moved to the Ed Smith Stadium field. It was originally scheduled to take place on one of the back fields of the complex, but those fields are wet because of storms that went through the area.

Nelson Cruz will see game action for the first time. He’s hitting ninth because Orioles manager Buck Showater wrote them out in reverse alphabetical order, the opposite of Wednesday’s instrasquad lineups.

Cruz said he made a double take when he first looked at the lineup card and saw that he was batting ninth.

“I think it’s the only time I’ve batted ninth in my life,” Cruz said with a smile. “I was like, ‘This is the pitcher Cruz? Oh, it’s [LF], it’s me. I’m left field.’”

This will be Cruz’s third official day with the club after signing a one-year, $8-million deal, and he said he’s getting used to the Orioles clubhouse.
