The Pistons plan to interview Nate McMillan for their head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN.com citing NBA sources.

McMillan — widely regarded as the best coach on the market this offseason — was a favorite to take a position with the Seattle franchise if the Kings were to relocate there next season.

Now, McMillan who got his coaching start with the Sonics (2000-05) after playing his entire career there, is reportedly meeting with the Pistons.

The NBA's relocation committee voted unanimously Monday to keep the Kings in Sacramento, increasing the chances of a Pistons-McMillan union.

Team owner Tom Gores and his Platinum Equity executives were with Pistons president Joe Dumars last week, setting out the groundwork for a long-term solution to replacing Lawrence Frank , and McMillan's name was heavy in the discussion.
