Angels outfielder Mike Trout has been named Baseball America's 2012 Rookie of the Year and more impressively its Player of the Year as well. These awards are not confined to the American and National Leagues. This is for all of baseball and Trout dominated.

Jerry Crasnick's article on Trout brings up Washington Nationals phenom Bryce Harper as the closest to deserving the Rookie award but in singing Harper's praises, Trout only shines brighter, as when Crasnick quotes Angels GM Jerry DiPoto:

You saw it when he made the All-Star Game and went into Kansas City and people were coming to see him—rather than vice versa. That's kind of remarkable for a 20-year-old guy.
