Mike Green isn’t on the ice Monday morning for Capitals practice making this the second straight workout he’s missed since aggravating a groin injury last week.
Green, who did not travel with the team to Winnipeg, has missed four games with the groin injury and his continued absence from practice isn’t an encouraging sign that he will be able to return soon. Utility forward Brooks Laich, who has yet to make his season debut because of a lingering groin injury, is also not on the ice and hasn’t skated with the team since Feb. 16.
The rest of the Capitals’ roster is taking part in practice in Arlington, however, with a few lineup tweaks from what they used in the 3-0 win over the Jets.
Mathieu Perreault, who took a pair of unnecessary penalties in Winnipeg, is centering the fourth line after serving that role on the third for the past several weeks. Jay Beagle has been moved up to the third between Jason Chimera and Joel Ward.
Marcus Johansson, who has missed nine games with what the team will only describe as an upper body injury, is taking part in practice but as of late last week he had yet to be cleared for contact.
