Catcher Miguel Montero was eating his postgame meal when he got called into manager Kirk Gibson's office. For whatever reason, he said, he had a feeling what Gibson was going to tell him, and it turned out he was right.

He had made the All-Star team.

"I felt like when I got called up, to be honest," Montero said. "I wanted to cry I was so excited."

Montero will be the third catcher on the National League roster. He replaces Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco, who is out with a back injury.

Montero joins right fielder Justin Upton as the Diamondbacks representatives on Giants manager Bruce Bochy's NL squad.
