Michigan sophomore Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III got some news from the mainland Thursday while preparing for first-round action in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

Both were named the 50-player watch list for the the Naismith Trophy, which goes annually annually to the top women's and men's college basketball players of the year.

This is nothing new. McGary and Robinson already appeared on player of the year watch list for the Wooden award earlier this month.

The Naismith Award is voted on by the Atlanta Tipoff Club's board of selectors, a collection of basketball writers, coaches and administrators.

With McGary back on the floor from a back injury, both candidates will be on the floor Thursday afternoon when Michigan faces Long Beach State in Puerto Rico (5 p.m. ESPN2).
