Michigan running back Drake Johnson's accident last month was caused by a forklift driver's error, according to a traffic report obtained today via a public-records request.

The driver, Matt Johnson, stated he was moving a large cabinet that was at eye level at the U-M indoor track building April 13. As the garage door was opened for him and he drove in, he "felt a bump, stating he thought he ran over a starting block, when he saw Drake Johnson, a student-athlete, roll from under the forklift."

A detail in the report then was redacted. The description continued: "M. Johnson realized he had ran over Drake Johnson who was sitting on the track floor stretching."

Drake Johnson gave the same account in the report. He was examined by an athletic trainer at the scene, then by a university doctor at Schembechler Hall, then taken to U-M Hospital by athletic department staff.
