Nationals outfielder Michael Morse was pulled from the fourth inning of Monday's 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs with a sore right thumb as a precaution, and the injury isn't expected to be serious.

Morse was hit on the right hand by a pitch in his first at-bat on Aug. 24 against the Philadelphia Phillies, which caused him to miss the rest of the game and the following two games. He returned on Aug. 28 against the Miami Marlins and has played everyday since.
