With all the controversy surrounding the Washington Redskins and their offensive name — check out this letter from owner Dan Snyder if you’re in the mood to feel sick and/or lose faith in humanity – it was only a matter of time before attention was turned to teams in other sports. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was recently asked about his feelings regarding the Atlanta Braves to which he responded thusly:

I do not [think the name should be changed]. I think that the name the Atlanta Braves is a name that we should keep; and I have a number of friends who are Indians and they haven’t shared any offense with me about it. So I go by my experiences (11Alive).

Ahhh yes the good ol’ “I have friends who are…” line of reasoning. Classic and bulletproof.
