Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban responded on Tuesday to reports he consulted with a former FBI agent about investigating the officiating at the 2006 NBA Finals.

Cuban's denial runs contrary to the claims of former FBI agent Warren Flagg, who told The Oregonian he conducted an informal investigation for Cuban and determined he had a case.

It's possible Cuban "consulting" with Flagg was more a casual conversation during which Cuban vented frustrations over the way the series between the Mavericks and the Miami Heat was called, and Flagg pursued the notion out of curiosity or due diligence.
