Vince Carter still has game.

The Dallas veteran guard scored 18 of his 20 points in the first half of the Mavericks' 96-91 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers late Wednesday night at American Airlines Center.

He finished one point shy of tying his season high (21 on two occasions) and one rebound shy of tying his season high for rebounds (six on four occasions.)

What did you tell coach Rick Carlisle in regards to how many minutes you would like to play per game after they got you in a trade during the off-season? I said I don't care. Whatever you need me to do I'm going to do. You look at a team like this, it's all about winning. It's not about minutes, it's not about your numbers, it's not about anything else. My contributions to this team, I know they are important. And wherever that may be -- starting, coming off the bench, whatever -- I have to do it.
