Twins catcher Joe Mauer has played All-Star Games in Pittsburgh, New York, St. Louis, Anaheim and Kansas City. If he is picked again in 2014, he will get a chance to play in his own back yard.

Commissioner Bud Selig will be at Target Field on Wednesday for a news conference at 4 p.m., officially announcing that the Twins have been selected as hosts for the 2014 All-Star Game.

"Just to see what the game does to a city, the excitement it brings with it, to think we could have that here would be awesome," Mauer said. "It's not just the park. The whole city has a buzz about it. In Kansas City [this year], everywhere you went it was about the MLB All-Star Game.
