Former Houston Cougar Case Keenum will make his first NFL start at Kansas City after the decision was made to not try to let Matt Schaub play Sunday coach Gary Kubiak said Thursday. He made the decision to tell the team this morning as the Texans prepare for the 6-0 Chiefs who have the NFL’s best pass rush and have forced the most turnovers.

Keenum spent his rookie season after signing as an undrafted free agent on the Texans’ practice squad but he was impressive during the preseason even though Kubiak wound up naming T. J. Yates to be Schaub’s backup.

“He’s going against one of the top defensive teams at their place but we just want him to go out and react” Kubiak said. “He’ll do his part and the team will do theirs. He has a knack for making big plays. There’s big pressure on our guys up front. This young man has to go in their and do his job.
