A year and 19 days after his last major league start, LHP Matt Harrison will return to the Texas Rangers starting rotation on Sunday in Seattle, manager Ron Washington said Wednesday.

The Rangers will go with LHP Robbie Ross, RHP Colby Lewis and Harrison, who is coming back from back Surgery, against the Mariners. It means RHP Yu Darvish will start the homestand opener on Monday against Oakland.

Ultimately, the Rangers decision on how to set up the rotation came down to a pair of interleague games May 5-6 at Colorado rather than how to approach Seattle and Oakland.

“We don’t want Harrison and Colby hitting in Colorado,” Washington said. “We don’t want Matt to swing and miss at a ball and mess something up and we certainly don’t want Colby, with his back, to have to run the bases there. We just couldn’t have that.”
