The Colorado Avalanche are finally hitting some bumps in the road, having lost each of their last three games. They are going to lose their best skater Matt Duchene too, but not for as long as initially feared.

Duchene suffered an oblique injury on Saturday night in the Avalanche's 4-1 loss to the Panthers at home, sustaining the injury in the third period. However he is only expected to miss one week according to coach Patrick Roy (via the Denver Post):

"We will hope it's not more than that, but [Duchene] said he would need about a week," Roy said.

Just one week is pretty good news for the Avs considering oblique injuries can often have recovery timetables of around a month or so. Obviously Duchene missing less time is all for the better for the Avs as they finally face the task of getting out of a funk.
