The New York Rangers are off to a simply abysmal start with a 1-4-0 record and a minus-16 goal differential so something has to change. On Monday GM Glen Sather made the first moves.

Joining the waiver wire on Monday were forward Arron Asham as well as veteran backup goaltender Martin Biron.

Biron being cut is a surprise even though his numbers are as bad as you'll see in the NHL. He appeared in two games this season once in relief of Henrik Lundqvist and was torched. The sample size is incredibly small but he has a .763 save percentage and a 7.61 goals against average thus far. He was a victim of the Sharks' onslaught in San Jose last week and was the goalie victimized by Tomas Hertl's goal of the year candidate.
