he Marlins added more bullpen depth today by signing hard-throwing reliever Jon Rauch to a one-year deal.
To make room for Rauch on the 40-man roster, outfielder Bryan Petersen was designated for assignment.
Rauch, 34, is a 10-year veteran who has spent parts of six seasons in the National League East.
In 2012, he went 3-7 with a 3.59 ERA (57.2 IP/23 ER) in 73 appearances for the New York Mets, with four saves and 42 strikeouts to 12 walks.
At 6-ft.-11, Rauch is the tallest player in baseball.
