Tight end Marcedes Lewis is noted for being one of the most durable Jaguars.

He missed only three games in his first seven seasons with the team.

He now seems destined to miss the first two games of this season with a nagging calf injury. Coach Gus Bradley said Lewis is a longshot to play Sunday in Oakland.

Lewis wasn’t able to practice Wednesday and was limited to what he calls tempo running or jogging. He said he’s day to day.

Of the injury Lewis said “It happens. Everything happens for a reason. I can’t be around here moping about it. I have to do what I have to do to help the young guys along and continue to prepare and be a leader in a different way until I get back on the field.”
