The Leafs went through an intense practice Wednesday with a completely new look for its top line.

When the players picked up their practice jerseys —colour coded for line combinations — Joffrey Lupul found himself separated from the top line and Phil Kessel.

Matt Lombardi, the wonderfully gifted skater with a solid defensive game, found himself hoisted up to that line after spending most of the season on the lower lines.

So, when the Leafs meet the Wild Thursday at home as they try to snap a three day losing streak, Kessel will line up with Tyler Bozak as his centre and Lombardi on the opposite wing.
