Fans naturally are curious about the résumé of new Pistons general manager Jeff Bower.

He isn’t a self-promoter, and considering he previously toiled in Charlotte and New Orleans, it’s understandable that he isn’t a household name like his boss, Stan Van Gundy.

But here are a couple of facts to know from his two stints (seven seasons) as GM with the Hornets.

■ He finished third in the Sporting News’ executive of the year voting for the 2007-08 season.

■ He had an extensive role in the scouting of players like David West (selected No. 18 overall), J.R. Smith (No. 18), Chris Paul (No. 4) and Darren Collison (No. 21).
