Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol, the subject of trade rumors involving the Timberwolves, did not change uniforms Friday night at Target Center but had kind words for Kevin Love, who could become his teammate.
"He's got a will and determination to go after every ball," Gasol said before the Lakers' 105-102 victory over the Wolves. "Even though he's a little undersized and lost some weight, he's still a powerful player and playing at a high level. I'm definitely impressed with him."
Gasol had 12 points and 11 rebounds in 36 minutes against the Wolves (21-20). He and Love did not have a chance to face each other Friday night.
Love was a late scratch because of back spasms and remained in the locker room for treatment.
Among the rumors that would make Gasol and Love teammates is a deal that would send forward Michael Beasley to the Lakers in exchange for Gasol. The NBA trading deadline is Thursday.
