Defensive end Jason Jones one of the Lions’ key off-season additions will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a ruptured patella tendon in his left knee in the second quarter of today’s 27-20 win at Washington.

Jones suffered the injury on a second-and-20 completion to tight end Jordan Reed. He tried to walk off the field with the help of trainers but two teammates ran on to help before a cart was summoned from the sideline.

With Jones out the Lions (2-1) played most of Sunday with Willie Young Ziggy Ansah and Israel Idonije at defensive end. Rookie fourth-round pick Devin Taylor was inactive and Ansah left briefly in the second half with an undisclosed injury but returned and finished the game.
