According to St. Louis Dispatch reporter Jim Thomas, Detroit Lions defensive backs coach Tim Walton is interviewing for the St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator position.

Walton joined the Lions in 2009, after one year as the defensive coordinator for the University of Memphis. Prior to that he was the defensive coordinator at Miami (Fla.) and has also coached defensive backs at Miami, LSU, and Syracuse.

Despite having subpar talent and depth on the roster, Walton has often gotten the most out of Detroit's secondary. He's shown a knack for developing individual players, molding cornerback Chris Houston into a reliable starter after the Atlanta Falcons gave up on the former second-round draft pick.
