During one-on-one drills at training camp Saturday Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson made an impressive catch with Chris Houston draped all over him.

The reception drew a roar from the crowd of season ticket-holders and upon hearing the cheers Houston invited the fans to see if they could check Johnson.

Anyone who tries to stop Johnson should keep in mind that Houston Johnson’s teammate for the past three seasons thinks he’s better now than when he had 1964 receiving yards in 2012.

“He’s definitely better” said Houston wondering if Johnson has extra arms or if maybe they’re made of the same material as Stretch Armstrong.

So if Johnson is better now than when he broke Jerry Rice’s single-season receiving yardage record in 2012 2000 yards must be the next goal right?

Not exactly Johnson said.

“Where I got to last year it’s a difficult feat where I got to and then a lot of that was because we had guys hurt so I had to take on the bulk of the offense” he said. “We had two guys go down — Nate (Burleson) and (Ryan) Broyles — that were a big help to our offense last year. We got even more help this year.”

Instead of shooting for 2000 yards this year Johnson said he wants the Lions other receivers to stay on the field so quarterback Matthew Stafford can spread the ball around.
