The Penguins made three moves involving defensemen today.

Kris Letang was placed back on injured reserve, Simon Despres was recalled from Wiikes-Barre/Scranton and Robert Bortuzzo was sent to Wilkes-Barre on a conditioning assignment.

Letang returned from a leg injury for Tuesday's 1-0 win over Montrea after missing three games. He seemed to have a problem with a leg or foot on his first shift -- possibly aggravating the earlier injury -- but remained in the game. Rules require him to be out at least seven days before he can be removed from IR. Letang has three goals, 28 points and is considered a candidate for the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman.
