Former Green Bay Packers safety LeRoy Butler is scheduled to be interviewed on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" Thursday night.

The show starts at 7 p.m. Central.

Butler was to make a paid appearance this summer at a Wisconsin church, but the church canceled his appearance after he tweeted a message of support for NBA player Jason Collins, who on Monday declared he was gay.

The church told Butler he needed to remove his tweet, apologize and ask for God's forgiveness. When he declined, the church canceled his appearance.

Butler has declined to name the church. He said he does not want the church to be subjected to any kind of extreme reaction to its decision.
