Padres pitcher Eric Stults started the game. In the first Chase Headley allowed a runner on base with a fielding error. With a stolen base and single the Texas Rangers took an early 1-0 lead.

All was quiet with batters retiring in order until the 3rd inning. That's when Ranger Brandon Allen homered to right field scoring his little buddy Craig Gentry. Suddenly it was 3-0 Rangers.

Anthony Bass took over pitching duties in the 4th inning and care of business. In the 5th however he gave up a two run homer to Jim Adduci. It was 5-0 Rangers and the Padres vital signs were flat lining.
