The White Sox are hoping for some inspiration when they arrive in Kansas City for a weekend series against the Royals.

Paul Konerko will be waiting for them and ready to play after missing more than a week.

"He's doing baseball stuff, so he's doing fine and he's (flying Thursday to Kansas City)," manager Robin Ventura said. "Everything is looking good that he'll be able to come off (the disabled list) Friday and be able to play."

The team captain has suffered from concussions symptoms since being elbowed in the head at first base Aug. 7. He was placed on the seven-day disabled list Friday, a category reserved just for head injuries.
