Milan Michalek has gone under the knife.
The Senators winger had knee surgery this morning in New York City.
Sources say he will be gone a month but there was no choice.
As the Sun reported Tuesday, the Senators felt this was the best option for Michalek to give him a chance to play in the post-season.
He has missed 14 of the last 16 games as a result of the injury.
He tried to play through it but after two games it swelled up again.
“We felt if we did this now, it would give him a chance to be back,” said head coach Paul MacLean.
