With Metta World Peace readying for a blood-spinning procedure, the Knicks are hopeful they get back their defensive big man always ready to spill some blood — Kenyon Martin.

Martin’s possible return from a five-game absence due to an abdominal strain for the Christmas matinee against the Thunder couldn’t come at a better time. It would mark only the third time this season Chandler and Martin, their two best big-man defenders, have played together.

“The bright side is I think Kenyon, if everything goes according to plan when he comes in [Wednesday] morning, he might be a guy that suits and plays a little bit,” coach Mike Woodson said Tuesday on his ESPN Radio show.

In the Knicks’ two most embarrassing defeats — matinee blowouts against San Antonio and Boston — Martin and Chandler were absent. That’s why Woodson would like Martin in there to set a tone.
The Knicks have had enough trouble with their new alternate orange jerseys. They are 0-6 in those uniforms and have temporarily stopped using them for their weekend games.
