It was obvious after taking over as the 49ers’ starting quarterback that Colin Kaepernick turned into more a running threat in the postseason.

On Thursday, he revealed what everybody had already figured: The 49ers enact a regular-season plan to limit the number of opportunities defenses have to hit their quarterback.

“Some of it is game-plan specific, as far as you have 16 weeks during the regular season that you might not want to take all those hits,” Kaepernick said on an appearance on San Francisco radio station KNBR while at activities surrounding Super Bowl XLVIII.
