While the Patriots were on their playoff bye week, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels interviewed for the open Browns head coaching job.

On Wednesday, though, McDaniels withdrew from consideration for the job, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

That's probably a good call by McDaniels. While the Patriots offense is always a strong unit when McDaniels coordinates it -- to be fair, it's also a strong unit when he hasn't coordinated it as well -- it's hard to forget the disastrous run he had as the Broncos head coach when he lost 17 of his past 22 games and embroiled the organization in an embarrassing cheating scandal.

Another failed head-coaching tenure so soon after Denver might knock him out of any other potential head-coaching jobs for the rest of his career.
