He wore the wrong jersey and hit two home runs in a game that didn't count because of a rainout.

That's one unforgettable day for Josh Donaldson.

"I forgot my jersey," said Donaldson, who traveled with the A's from the team's training site in Phoenix to the Peoria Sports Complex for Friday's exhibition against the Mariners.

He usually wears No. 20, but he was stuck with 98. No worries. The third baseman had no homers in his first eight games, going 1-for-20. Then he put on 98 and homered twice.

Why not just keep 98?

"Everybody seems to want me to," he said. "I don't know if it's the number or not. I might get another chance with it. We'll see."
He said he'll wear 20 on Saturday.
In the regular season, clubhouse workers pack all uniforms for players, but players pack for themselves in spring training. Having forgotten his uniform, Donaldson said, he reached in a bag of extra jerseys and "pulled out the highest number."
