Add an injury to the insult of the Red Sox' series-opening loss to the Cubs.
Josh Beckett has been scratched from Sunday night's start at Wrigley Field with what the team is labeling "right shoulder inflammation." Beckett is scheduled to undergo tests, according to manager Bobby Valentine, who added that Beckett will stay on the active roster "for now."
"Nothing serious," Valentine said. "He'll be pitching again, that's for sure."
As he left the Red Sox' clubhouse following a 3-0 loss to the Cubs, Beckett deferred comment until tomorrow.
