After being on Sirius NFL Radio on Tuesday, defensive end Michael Johnson was on NFL Network’s NFL AM morning show on Friday and reiterated his hope that he could remain a Bengal. Johnson was fifth in the AFC with 11.5 sacks last year after having 11.0 his first three seasons.
Johnson is currently enrolled at Georgia Tech, taking three classes toward his business management degree. After taking these classes, he will need to take two more before graduating.
“I’m in a good position where I can just sit back and just chill and see how it plays out. I’m not worried about anything. I’m very excited about this time and I know everything will work itself out and I’ll be in the best situation. Hopefully that’s in Cincinnati, so I’ll know here in a few weeks,” he said.
On if he would like to return to the Bengals, Johnson said: “Of course. We have a good thing going. But we have to continue to improve and make some more strides so that we can make even more noise. We’ve done a little bit but there is a lot more left in there to do. We have a great young group of guys and I’m a part of that and I look forward to continuing being a part of that for many years to come.”
