John Terry is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

As they watch their club selling Player of the Year Juan Mata to Manchester United, Blues fans will be further stunned to discover the man who has been the team’s leader for the last 10 years is also being eased towards the exit door.

It comes as the Blues usher a new player into the club, after beating Liverpool to the £11million signature of Basel’s Egypt midfielder Mohamed Salah.

The 21-year-old becomes Chelsea’s third signing of the January transfer window following the arrivals of Nemanja Matic and Bertrand Traore.

However, as manager Jose Mourinho plans for the future, 33-year-old Terry - who has always been keen to finish his playing days at the club he has represented his whole career - is known to have become frustrated by the delay in offering him a new contract.

His current deal is up at the end of the season and while the club have given only vague indications they are willing to discuss terms in the next few months, it is thought their plan is to offer Terry only a one-year deal - and attempt to slash his current wages.
