As Darrelle Revis walked out the door, leaving the Jets last Sunday, he made it clear he wasn’t pleased with how his relationship with the team ended. He and GM John Idzik never were on the same page from the start of the trade rumors through to his final week in New York. "Definitely I feel like I haven’t gotten the truth,” Revis said after being traded. “Anybody can sit here and tell you to your face, ‘Yeah, you’re going to be a Jet.’ But what’s the truth out of it. What’s really true?”

On Tuesday on the Mike Lupica Show on ESPN Radio, Idzik was asked if he lied to Darrelle Revis. “Absolutely not,” Idzik said. “I’ll be called a lot of names, have been in my career, will be in the future. Dishonest is not one of them.”

After saying Tuesday morning there would be an open competition at quarterback, Idzik kept to the same line of thinking in the afternoon. The GM said the “grandiose plan” was to let the competition play out on the field between Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, Greg McElroy and David Garrard.

“We’re a quarterback-obsessed league? Well, we’re a quarterback-obsessed team too,” said Idzik. The GM Has stuck to his line about competition since his hiring. Asked if, come September, that Mark Sanchez will be one of the team’s quarterbacks, Idzik said, “Yeah we would hope that. All we’re trying to do is bolster our roster position by position, and that certainly includes quarterback.”
