Unrestricted free agent defenceman Ian White will attend Winnipeg Jets training camp on a professional tryout offer.

White spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Red Wings but missed a lot of action in 2013 due to various injuries.

In 25 games with the Red Wings last regular season White registered two goals two assists and a plus-5 rating.

If White 29 ends up signing a contract with the Jets they will become his sixth NHL team.

The Steinbach Man. native who was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the sixth round (191st overall) in the 2002 NHL Draft has also played for the Calgary Flames Carolina Hurricanes and San Jose Sharks.

On Tuesday prior to agreeing to the professional tryout offer White skated with Jets players during a workout.

The Jets currently have eight defencemen under contract for the 2013-14 campaign.

In 503 career NHL games White has 45 goals and 179 points and 254 penalty minutes.
