Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria went on the offensive with full-page ads in the three daily newspapers today. He defends his off-season fire sale. He attacks the media. He makes it sound like anyone with a brain cell should buy in to his purging the roster of talent.

So this will be interesting.

Here are highlights of Loria's letter and some thoughts:

1. The Roster: "Losing is unacceptable to me ... The controversial trade we made with the Toronto Blue Jays was approved by baseball experts outside of Miami for its value. We hope, with an open mind, our community can reflect on the fact that we had one of the worst records in baseball. Acquiring high-profile players just didn't work out and nearly everyone on our team under performed ... Objective experts have credited us with going form the 28th ranked minor League system in baseball to the 5th best during this period."
