The Twins handed the Pirates their first lost of spring training on Monday, 5-4, proving that everything I said on Saturday was wrong and that the Bucs are doomed.
Nah, not really. The Twins' victory was fueled by a bases-clearing double by Justin Morneau off Jeanmar Gomez, who I couldn't care less about. (He's technically in the competition for the fifth starter job, but he doesn't have that much of a shot, and I'd be pretty annoyed if he actually won it.) Gomez walked two and struck out one in 1.1 innings, allowing four runs.
