Tigers right fielder J.D. Martinez left Saturday's 5-4 win over the Marlins after stumbling on a shoestring catch in the first inning. He was diagnosed with a mid-right-foot sprain after X-rays came back negative, and he will be re-evaluated on Sunday.

Martinez made a highlight catch to end the Marlins' first-inning threat, robbing Tyler Moore of what would have been an RBI bloop single. But Martinez was limping as he walked off the field at the end of the inning.

"I tried to slide and catch it, and then I realized that I was gonna catch it in the air," Martinez said. "So then I tried to put my foot in to catch it, and I just kind of rolled my foot a little bit."

Martinez appeared to realize something might be serious, because he was initially heading toward the clubhouse.
