In a move that was somewhat expected, just not this soon, the Bengals released Jason Allen.

Allen played in only four games due to injuries and had 3 snaps on defense and 47 on special teams. He had two tackles on defense and one on special teams.

At $3.7 million, Allen had the seventh-highest cap number on the Bengals. The release will save the Bengals $3.2 million but $500,000 will be accounted for in dead money due to the prorated signing bonus.

Allen is going into his eighth season.
